More Than Process: A Reference Architecture For Integrating
Aperture Vista Into an IT Operations Management Solution

Abstract: Large enterprises are rethinking and, in some cases,
reengineering how they manage their Information Technology infrastructures
in order to be most responsive to their business customers' demands
for higher quality operations at a lower cost. Process frameworks like
ITIL are an important step in this effort, but they only go so far.
More often than not, specific software solutions are required to achieve
service objectives.
This paper presents a Reference Architecture for IT Operations Management
which shows how best of breed tools and technologies can be brought
together to deliver infrastructure services more effectively and efficiently.
More specifically, this paper will highlight the unique contribution
of Aperture VISTA to managing the physical infrastructure within the
context of this broader solution set. Taking the specific example of
Enterprise Change Management (ECM), it will explore how Aperture VISTA
increases the value of an ECM solution by enabling the proper specification,
communication, visualization, and implementation of all changes to the
physical infrastructure.
It explores the specific value VISTA provides
to Senior Management, Service Managers, Purchasing, Engineering, and
Operations and shows how VISTA - when integrated with a best-practices
driven change and asset management solution - improves the quality and
consistency and reduces the cost and the risk associated with managing
the IT Infrastructure.
